LSW Travel Teams

1. All players must participate in the LSW Spring Intramural League.
2. Players will play age-appropriate baseball. The age cutoff is April 30; for example, a player who is nine before the cutoff must play on the 9U team.
3. LSW Travel Baseball begins at age 8. Selected 7-year-olds may fill a second (B) team when needed for one year; they must then remain down the following year to play age-appropriate baseball.
4. Players may move between Red and Blue teams with league and coach approval.
5. LSW does not seek players from other leagues or programs. With league approval, players who register for LSW Intramural Baseball may play travel.
6. Players who do not make travel at ages 7, 8, or 9 may be evaluated again each year. Some players develop later and join travel at ages 10, 11, or 12.
7. LSW will form additional teams when players and coaches are available.

LSW Astros Summer 7U Team: All players who make the 7U team must try out the following year for the Astros 8U team.

1. All coaches must be approved by the LSW Board.
2. When more than one travel team can be formed in an age group, coaches work together to form teams and aim for 12–14 players per team.
3. Coaches may be subject to random background checks.
4. Coaches must follow the LSW Code of Conduct.
5. Coaches are responsible for developing every player on their team.
6. At least one coach per age group must help coordinate travel schedules, schedule changes, game changes with the head umpire, playoff schedules, and win/loss records.

1. All teams are expected to play in and support LSW Travel Leagues and tournaments.
2. Travel teams are responsible for their own finances, except fundraising for Cooperstown.
3. Uniforms and equipment are ordered from L.I. Athletics and paid for by the team fund.
4. Teams work to give players the best possible Cooperstown baseball experience.

1. Sponsorships must come from outside the LSW area, such as a parent’s workplace. Please avoid approaching existing league sponsors in Wantagh, Seaford, and Levittown.
2. All collected funds are deposited in the LSW Cooperstown Account. LSW is a 501(c) nonprofit organization, and tax responsibilities are managed under LSW.
3. Fundraising ideas come from the participating teams; the following established events must continue:

• Memorial Day Tournament BBQ
• Flag Football Concession Stand
• Night at the Races
